Research Training
We provide training and support to students at all levels of the research continuum. We strive to provide an environment that is intellectually stimulating and supportive to allow students to achieve their academic and professional development goals.
Since 2000, we have been actively engaged in building research capacity in primary health care as part of the University component of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing Primary Health Care Research, Evaluation and Development (PHC RED) Strategy. Funding received from the PHC RED strategy contributes to the research training and support we offer in the Department.
The Researcher Development Program (RDP) is a core research training activity sponsored by the PHC RED strategy. This program provides funding to early-mid career researchers to develop their research skills and expertise through participation in research.
We are also engaged in the Victorian PHC RED Partnership, along with our partners from Monash University and the Department of Rural Health, Shepparton.
We offer research training for:
- Undergraduate Advanced Medical Science (AMS) students
- Academic General Practice Registrars
- Primary care health professionals via the Researcher Development Program (RDP)
- Master of Medicine & Master of Primary Health Care students
- PhD students
